NIBS - TRIPLE-Therapy Workshop

On the 1st and 5th of June 2023 the NIBS-TRIPLE-THERAPY workshop - with Prim. Dr. Winkler and an experienced physiotherapist, Ms Schandl – took place in an online format in Austria

The content of this workshop was designed with a view to its applicability in everyday clinical practice. Participating physicians and therapists learned the basics of an innovative therapeutic approach - the TRIPLE-THERAPY – in order to be able to implement it in everyday clinical practice.

Noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS) is of great interest to clinicians because of its important role in supporting brain physiology and plasticity, and in the treatment and prognosis of brain diseases. It is being used with increasing success in various indications and opens up new therapy options that make a significant contribution to improving or restoring functions in rehabilitation.

  • With the so-called TRIPLE-Therapy, stroke patients have the opportunity to receive a special treatment method, parallel to classic rehabilitation, which combines three established therapy options, used in a strict and scientifically evidenced standardized protocol.
  • The combination of behavioral therapy (e.g. physiotherapy, occupational therapy, etc.) together with modulation of neuronal networks and the additional administration of Cerebrolysin® shows an improved response to therapeutic interventions.
  • This new therapeutic approach aims to strengthen the brain’s natural repair mechanisms and – therefore – promote the brain’s ability to learn, especially in patients for whom conventional therapeutic measures have not achieved the expected and desired goals. This multimodal treatment approach gives the brain a jump start, to recover lost functions again.

The Workshop participants listened attentively to the clinical rehabilitation expert Prim. Dr. Winkler and learned of promising results that could already be interpreted from experimental studies based on the available data. These positive treatment signals increase hope that this innovative TRIPLE-Therapy will be effective.
