Post stroke rehabilitation exchange programs

Improving post-stroke rehabilitation is one of the most important objectives of rehabilitation exchange programs in different countries and here especially EVER Pharma is a key partner for implementing and facilitating trainings and exchange programs in which young leaders from different countries come to Austria for “short scientific missions” to learn in depth about e.g. the importance of early rehabilitation, early cognitive rehabilitation, rehabilitation process management etc.

In 2017 EVER Pharma started the AVANT Program in Vietnam in cooperation with Christian Doppler University Hospital and Bad Pirawarth Therapy Centre. This project became not only successful in improving post-stroke rehabilitation standards in Vietnam, in the course of the project also became clear that it had an impact on better diagnosis of post-stroke complications, as a consequence also reduced complication rates.

Several countries in Eastern Europe started similar projects. For example, Uzbekistan launched the AUREUS-program – a cooperation with Austrian Rehab experts from the University Hospital Tulln and the Rehazentrum Gmundner Berg. Or the ACURE Program, which supports Ukrainian post-stroke rehabilitation efforts. Outside the European arena new rehabilitation projects have already started for example in the Philippines and Mexico.

In 2022 a new wave of rehabilitation programs - also facilitated by EVER Pharma - have either already started or are very close to implementation in Azerbaijan and Egypt.

All these programs are encouraged and supported by the Stroke Action Plan Europe (SAP-E), a joint project between the EU and the European Stroke Organization (ESO).

COST-Association  supports these scientific missions to Austria with grants and enables physicians from the above mentioned countries to live and work in Austria for the assigned times.

Summary

There is a growing awareness in all countries – high income as well as low-and middle income – that post-stroke rehabilitation is a very essential part of therapy. EVER Pharma is dedicated to being a partner for physicians, caregivers and patients alike to improve the longterm outcome after stroke and patients return to optimal quality of life.
