Watch – How Cerebrolysin® works after stroke

Presenting and explaining the functioning of the multimodal drug, Cerebrolysin®, in a simple and understandable way with impressive and unprecedented images was important for us. High-resolution videos with their three-dimensional representations show in great detail the interaction of cells and other molecular substances in the neurovascular unit and the supportive mechanisms of Cerebrolysin® after stroke. Watch in 5 short tutorial videos, how Cerebrolysin®…:

  • …is administered and, due to its unique molecular structure and composition, gets to its place of action, the neurovascular unit. Cerebrolysin® is one of few drugs that can pass the blood-brain barrier (BBB).
  • … exerts its anti-inflammatory and vasoprotective effects after an ischemic stroke. They counteract inflammatory reactions caused by ischemia and parts of the thrombus, such as fibrin, and also strengthen the blood-brain barrier, thereby reducing the possibility of haemorrhages.
  • …unfolds its prophylactic effect by preventing the formation of post stroke dementia, which may be caused by Small Vessel Disease.
  • … stimulates, amplifies and prolongs the body’s own neuroplasticity by its NTF (neurotrophic factor)-like activity. It also enhances the natural processes of neuroplasticity with its axonal growth, sprouting and synaptogenesis. Thus, treatment with Cerebrolysin® improves and restores the damaged neural network.
  • …, by its ability to increase the NTF level in the brain by either stimulating the NTF production of glial- and nerve cells, and also catalyzes the conversion of pro-BDNF into active BDNF. All of this leads to an increase in the edogenous neurogenesis, especially the increased migration of neuronal progenitor cells, so-called neuroblasts, and to a stronger network and repair of the neuronal tissue.
